A number of organisations are looking to address the security issues which are perceived to be prevalent in the world of cloud computing.

This week data security firm, Sophos, announced that it has modified its SafeGuard Enterprise encryption and protection system for businesses, so that it will work in a cloud-based environment.

The new Sophos technology will be able to encrypt data on a variety of cloud platforms, including public, private and even hybrid systems, which might previously have been tough to protect against attack.

Unified messaging service from Synchronia

Mobile communications firm Synchronia has just launched its latest product; a unified communications tool for business users who want to get all of their messages in the same place, regardless of the platform.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC), which is taking place this week in Barcelona, was used as the launchpad for the Unity messaging service and its developer hopes that it will be able to pull together disparate forms of communication into a single interface, accessible through a business mobile.

Mobile VoIP app launched to rival Skype

A new VoIP service designed to help mobile phone users communicate cheaply and effectively has been launched by Kineto Wireless, according to PC Advisor.

The Kineto application can be downloaded across a number of popular smartphone platforms, including iOS, Android and Windows Phone. It will be competing in a market which is currently dominated by the likes of Skype and Google Voice, although any new entrants are sure to give the established providers cause to improve their own services.
